Fiedler’s FavoritesFebruary 12 and February 13, 2010
Arthur Fiedler, the Boston Pops' legendary maestro for nearly half a century, is one of the most beloved figures in the American popular lexicon. Travel through Fiedler's favorite countries through visual art and beautiful music. Some pieces to be performed are Strauss's "On the Beautiful Blue Danube", George Bizet's "Les Toreadors and Habanera" from "Carmen"and '50s big band music from composer Leroy Anderson, featuring the CSO trumpet section.
Bohuslav Rattay, an internationally acclaimed conductor, joins the CSO from the Muncie (IN) Symphony Orchestra where he has been the Artistic Director for the past four years. He continues to astound and delight audiences the world over with his fresh and inspired interpretations of works ranging from perennial concert-hall favorites to the contemporary. We will be in for a treat here in Charleston!
