Jessica Hull-Dambaugh
Principal Flute
Jessica Hull-Dambaugh is currently the Principal Flutist of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, a position she has held since 2004. She has also spent several summers playing flute and piccolo with the Central City Opera Orchestra in Colorado and is currently an active member of the Charleston Chamber Players. She has most recently appeared as a featured soloist in the 2011 Charleston Bach Festival, the 2010 & 2011 Bar Harbor Music Festival in Maine, and the annual Piccolo Spoleto Festival since 2009 as part of their Spotlight Concert Series. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and has performed numerous solo recitals around the Charleston, Wachington, DC, and New York areas. Jessica also enjoys performing locally with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra & South Carolina Philharmonic. Prior to her move to Charleston, Jessica held the position of Principal Flute with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and performed frequently with the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra in Washington, DC.
Jessica has toured extensively throughout China, Europe, the Netherlands, South America, and Latin America, and has attended the acclaimed Schleswig-Holstein Orchestral Academy in Germany, the Music Academy of the West, the National Orchestral Institute, and the Youth Orchestra of the Americas Orchestral Training Institute. Jessica received her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance and music education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where she was a student of Ken Andrews. She earned her Master of Music degree in flute performance at Carnegie Mellon University where she was a student of Jeanne Baxtresser, Retired Principal Flutist of the New York Philharmonic. Other former teachers include Alberto Almarza, Jennifer Conner, and Robert Bush. She currently maintains a private teaching studio and is an active member of the South Carolina Flute Society Board.
