The Charleston Symphony Orchestra (Charleston, SC) seeks a full-time Director of Development. This position reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Board of Directors’ Vice President of Development, the Development Committee and Board of Directors to prepare and implement an effective multi-year development plan with goals and strategies updated annually. The Director of Development is responsible for the development, management, implementation and evaluation of an overall fundraising program consistent with the needs and goals of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. The Director of Development plans and implements all development activities, including the annual campaign, corporate sponsorships, grant applications, donor stewardship and new revenue-generating initiatives such as a planned giving society. In addition, the Director of Development serves as the Orchestra’s staff liaison to the CSO League and CSO affiliate organizations regarding fundraising efforts that involve or benefit the Orchestra.

Requirements:
This position requires familiarity with resources and current research in fundraising, excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Raiser’s Edge and ability to perform hands-on database management and reporting and an ability to lead the CSO toward budgetary goals.
