William Zehfuss recently accepted a one-year position as Assistant Principal Trombone with the Utah Symphony for the 2009-2010 season. He has spent the majority of his career as Principal Trombone of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and has taught at the College of Charleston. At the invitation of JoAnn Falletta, Mr. Zehfuss accepted a one-year appointment as Principal Trombone of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra for the 2006-2007 season. During his time in Hawaii he also served as trombonist with Chamber Music Hawaii, the Maui Pops, and as adjunct faculty at the University of Hawaii. Mr. Zehfuss performed as a clinician and soloist at ITW Charleston 2008. He has appeared as soloist with the CSO in works by Creston, David, Martin and Tomasi. In October 2000 Mr. Zehfuss gave the world premiere performance of Eric Ewazen's Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra. Dr. Ewazen then invited Mr. Zehfuss to perform this work with the U.S. Army Orchestra at the 2003 Eastern Trombone Workshop. Mr. Zehfuss has also appeared as soloist with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, Transylvania Youth Orchestra, and the USC Symphonic Band. He received his degree in Trombone Performance from Northwestern University.
